Dad, as well as mom were huge Phillies fans. I guess that is where we got the love of the game. Every year growing up we would go to several games at the Vet and then CBP. Dad always attended opening day with us. The year he passed we organized an opening day tailgate with just 33 people. We had shirts made with dad’s name on the front and the baseball diamond on the back (with the Phillies logo shamrocks on the bases representing our Irish heritage, of course)
When it was decided to sell the house, we were connected with the VMC, originally the Veterans Multiple Service Center, to donate anything from the house that they could put to good use. Dad’s clothing, furniture, kitchen supplies, etc. were all donated. They came to the house and picked up the items, and we learned more about the group and their mission. The VMC highly impressed us with how they treat and work with our veterans.
The following year we partnered with them and we had a few more people at the game and tailgate, and we have been connected ever since. We continue to help them support the ones who have served our country. There is one thing we all agree on, we couldn’t do any of this without the tremendous support of family and friends.
All of the proceeds from the JPM Memorial Game go to the Veterans Multi-Service Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support and resources to veterans in need.
Your participation helps us make a difference in the lives of those who have served our country. Please go and check out the VMC's website to learn more about their mission and how you can contribute: Veterans Multi-Service Center.
If you have any questions about the VMC, please feel free to reach out to us or contact the VMC directly, or keep an eye out for their van at the event where you can speak with them in person!
So far, the JPM Memorial Game has raised upwards of $70,000 for the VMC, and we are excited to continue growing the event each year.
The JPM Memorial Game is held annually at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, PA, typically taking place in the late spring or early summer. Normally the seating for the game is up in Harry the K's
